Joris Cambie ‘s hop farm of is the only organic hop farm in Belgium… and also the only one with its own brewery. Like most hop farmers Joris, the youngest son of Daniel, took over the farm from his father. This is not so surprising, as hops have been grown for five generations now, on both his father and his mother’s sides.
Together with brewer Kris Langouche, Joris decided to make a long-harboured dream come true and to start his own brewery on the hop farm. On the hop farm, the brewery is installed in a shed that used to be used to harvest and dry the hops. The hop oasts (hop kilns) have been pulled down to make way for the wort boilers and the shed has been refitted to comply with food safety regulations. The brewing volume is increasing steadily, year on year, partly thanks to investment in additional equipment.
All the beers from De Plukker Brewery are 100% organic and – it goes without saying – are brewed from Joris’s home-grown hops.
